Today I Vibe Coded an iOS app with Claude and it went surprisingly well. I think a big part of it is that the app has a very simple layout and I used the default Apple OS26 liquid glass styling. Xcode is a surprisingly nice editor, I did vibe code the entire app, but some of the stuff had to be manually done by me like setting up the pipeline in the GUI so I ended up clicking around a bit. The profiling tools are the best I’ve seen, the whole editor experience was really nice and has a few features I would love to see in VS Code. Its just nice to see that there are still investments in other editors and that this isn’t a Google Chrome scenario where the new kid on the block takes over literally everything.
I think my biggest gripe is how much I had to do in the Xcode GUI and App store connect website. I ended up pressuring Claude to find a tool to help automate things and it gave me something called fastlane which did help a ton. Apple is famous for having a rigorous review process to get into their precious app store so I’m interested in seeing what issues they find in my minimal 3 page app.
The app is called Onus https://gitlab.com/MisterBiggs/onus - Its a super simple app that tells you how much money a purchase is costing you compared to putting that money against your outstanding debts. It turned out to be a far more depressing app than I expected.
