Bought an external enclosure for my M4 Mac Mini

Enclosure just died. The computer was on but idling, and this is for my M4 Mac Mini, so its never traveled or even really been picked up in the past 6 months, its just sat on my desk. I tried plugging it into my M4 Macbook Pro and it also wouldn’t power on. Tried a few other cables as well and nothing would work.

The enclosure has a LED on it so I think rules out that the SSD is dead, but I don’t just have those lying around to swap out.

I sent support an email, based on Reddit discussions I don’t have high hopes in getting a response soon.

My email never got a response so I had to call their support phone number. They claimed that I would have gotten an automated response to my email after I reached out to them. I definitely haven’t gotten one but once they looked it up they found my email and confirmed that a support case was never generated. They agreed to RMA the enclosure.

Its been about half an hour since the call and I have no updates in my inbox :/

45 minutes later I got the email.

mail the unit to us (we do not provide pre-paid shipping labels for manufacture claims). Once we receive the defective unit, we can test it, and mail a replacement.

I don’t have a lot of hope in this, but fingers crossed they are quick.

I paid out of pocket to ship the drive for its RMA using USPS. I did let this sit for about a month after receiving return instructions so that is very much on me.

I shot Hyper an email asking about how long the RMA would take, they immediately assigned me a support ticket. Last time I reached out I didn’t get assigned a ticket so I was happy to see their system actually works.

Support responded that they successfully processed my RMA, and that they would follow up with tracking information.

They sent the FedEx tracking info, and closed my ticket.

The replacement drive arrived. They sent me a whole new unit in fresh packaging which was nice to see. I would have liked more info from them about what the issue is, or maybe a voucher covering my shipping costs. However, they did fulfill their warranty after I pestered them.
